Our regional center in Crasna inaugurated its new artificial turf pitch this past weekend with a tournament for U12 boys’ teams. FK Csíkszereda won the competition, while our second team, made up of U11 players, finished in third place. Here is the report of the U12 coach, László Hodgyai.

The tournament was played in two groups of five teams each. In our first match, we faced Székelyudvarhely U12, and although goals came slowly at first, we ended up winning 5–0. The second match, against Erdőszentgyörgy, ended in a goalless draw despite many clear chances – their goalkeeper excelled, we hit the post, and several shots went wide. In the third match against Mihályfalva, an early individual mistake gave our opponents the lead, but the conceded goal boosted our boys: they quickly changed their attitude and, with attractive team play, turned the game around to win 3–1. In the final group game against Marosvásárhely SE, we once again started sluggishly, and the opponents struck first with a fine individual effort. Midway through the game, however, our boys returned to applying what we had practiced, and the result was evident: they overturned the score and pushed until the very end, winning 5–1.

In the semifinal, we met our own younger side, FK2 Csíkszereda (2015 generation), who had finished second in the other group. Hats off to the children coached by my colleague Tibor Incze – they played against older opponents and still achieved remarkable results. In the bronze final, they defeated Székelyudvarhely U12 to secure third place. Against them, our U12s played with respect but determination, knowing that a place in the final was at stake. We won 5–1, and it was clear that the 2015 generation is also shaping into a fine team.

In the final, we faced the big favourites, DVSC. I reminded my boys that if they gave everything, executed what we had trained, and didn’t allow the opponent time to think, we could succeed. And so it was: with aggressive high pressing and relentless pressure, they disrupted DVSC’s game. Their talented, technical players could not express themselves, and their build-up play often ended in turnovers. Their only goal came from a long ball, while we constructed our attacks beautifully, creating chances and winning 3–1.

Overall, it was a very useful tournament: the boys managed to come from behind twice, they showed their true strengths, and at the same time gained valuable experience in excellent conditions, on a high-quality artificial turf pitch. We would like to thank the Crasna leadership for the invitation and hospitality, our club for its support, and the parents for their outstanding dedication. We also wish the best of luck to all our opponents!

The tournament’s best player award went to Krisztián Tóth.
