Our U18 Youth League team earned a well-deserved home victory in a thrilling, goal-filled match against FC Bacău. After the final whistle, head coach Goran Kopunović shared his thoughts on his team’s performance.
The coach highlighted the high level of the play-off, describing it as a serious challenge for every side. – “This is an elite competition, and the play-off stage is extremely strong. I’ve seen many youth leagues around the world, but what we have here is of a very high standard. For U18 and U19 players, matches like these are essential for development – this is the only way they can truly grow,” said Goran Kopunović.
He added that the victory over Bacău proved how balanced the competition is. – “All eight teams in the play-off represent strong academies with quality players. But I believe in what we’re doing. The boys worked very hard this week, performed well in the Cup too – we scored three goals there and four today, that’s seven goals in four days. It shows we’re on the right path,” the coach noted.
Kopunović also pointed out that his team showed clear improvement in their play. – “Today we played much better than in our previous two matches. We created many chances, and although both goals we conceded came from individual mistakes, the important thing is that we scored four times. We fully deserved the three points,” he said.
Finally, the coach praised the team’s attitude and work ethic. – “We move forward and keep doing our job. In moments like this, we have to stay humble and believe in hard work. Next week we’re travelling to Cluj for another big derby. I’m confident we’ll play well and hopefully bring home points. I’m proud of the boys, I congratulate all of them – we keep going humbly and believe in hard work,” concluded Goran Kopunović.
