Our U16 Elite League team claimed an emphatic 5–0 away victory over CSS Târgoviște, securing a well-deserved place in the championship play-offs. After the match, head coach Bernát Burus shared his post-game reflections.

The coach admitted that in the previous two matches results didn’t reflect the team’s efforts, though the players’ attitude and determination were exemplary. – “If we look at our last two games, from a results perspective there wasn’t much success, but the boys showed great spirit and commitment,” said Bernát Burus.

During the first half of the week, the focus was on correcting previous mistakes, while the latter part was spent preparing their own game based on the opponent’s playing style. – “We knew we would play on a narrower pitch than usual, so it was important to find the right balance between attack and defense, avoiding the type of counterattacks that hurt us previously. Apart from one situation, our defense was almost flawless, handling long and high balls very well. After our quick wing plays, we managed to score four similar goals within one half,” explained the head coach.

In the second half, the team maintained focus and discipline, adding another goal before the final whistle. – “With this victory, the boys reaped the first fruits of their hard work: we achieved the main goal we set three months ago. I’m particularly proud of their exemplary attitude and the fact that once again they proved they can compete with the country’s top teams,” Bernát Burus emphasized.

“Congratulations to the boys — we, as a staff, are very proud of them — but now the real challenge begins, so we must continue to work with maximum effort,” concluded the head coach.
