Our U17 team drew in the weekend round against CFR Cluj. Head coach Mitra Szilárd shared his thoughts after the match:

“We analyzed CFR’s team, we knew where they were strong and where their weak points were, and this was clearly reflected in our play. In my opinion, until the goal we conceded, they posed absolutely no threat to us.

We prepared an aggressive style of football, both in defense and in attack, with few touches to give rhythm to our game. This partly worked. After taking a 1–0 lead, if we had managed to score one more goal from our chances, even the lucky goal we conceded would have been acceptable.

Unfortunately, the equalizer really affected the boys, which is understandable, because they played exactly as we had prepared, and they also felt that the question was not who would win, but only when our next goal would come. I could see on their faces that they couldn’t believe that shot – which wasn’t even really a shot, more like a back pass – ended up in our net.

From that point on, we started rushing, we were no longer aggressive or dangerous near the opponent’s goal. That goal really broke the boys and left its mark on our play.
We are talking about a youth team who could not handle this situation, but there are senior teams as well that collapse the same way after conceding.

In fact, I can only congratulate the boys for the 60 minutes of football they showed, because they proved that we can play the game, and that we are only truly dangerous through combinative play.”
