Our Women’s Superleague team held its first training session ahead of the early-February trip to Belek, Turkey. Head coach Szeitl Szilvia spoke about the start of preparations and the key focus points of the period leading into the play-offs.

The team will take part in a training camp in Belek, Turkey, between February 2 and 13, during which three friendly matches are scheduled. The main emphasis is on gradually rebuilding training loads, regaining match rhythm and strengthening the physical foundations required for the intensity of the play-offs. At the same time, the club is also working on strengthening the squad, with the signing of a high-quality attacking player among the plans.

Regarding the professional focus of the preparation period, Szeitl Szilvia highlighted that after the break, the primary objective is a conscious and gradual build-up of workload.
– After a longer break, finding the right balance is always the most important thing. At the beginning of February, we start with a training camp in Belek, Turkey, where we gradually rebuild the workload. In the initial phase, general fitness fundamentals come to the forefront, followed by an increasing emphasis on ball-based, high-intensity, game-situation-oriented training. We will play three friendly matches during the camp, and we are also planning domestic preparation games, because regaining match rhythm is a key factor. The conditioning work mainly focuses on explosiveness, speed and the ability to cope with repeated high-intensity efforts, as that is what the play-offs are about – said the head coach.

She also stressed that in the play-offs, every small detail becomes crucial.
– The biggest challenge of the play-offs is mental stability. There are no easy matches anymore, and every small mistake can be punished immediately. Maintaining focus, handling pressure and staying united as a team even in difficult moments are extremely important. This requires belief, discipline and mutual trust. To achieve our goals, it is essential that everyone accepts their role and puts the team’s interests first – she explained.

Speaking about squad changes, Szeitl Szilvia noted that strengthening the attacking line has been on the agenda for some time.
– It is still too early to talk about a specific name, as we are looking at several options. For us, the most important aspect is not only the number of goals, but the overall quality and complexity that a top attacking player can add to our game. We are looking for a player who moves well between defenders, can hold up the ball, presses effectively and is mentally ready for the demands of the play-offs. We need a striker who not only finishes chances but also elevates the team’s overall play – she emphasized.

Referring to their play-off opponents, she pointed out that each team has different strengths, making adaptability a key factor.
– Some teams dominate physically, others excel in quick transitions or have more experience. The biggest challenge will be adaptation, as we will face the same opponents several times in a short period. Tactical discipline, attention to detail and current form will be decisive. Our main focus has to be on ourselves, because if we can perform our own game at a high level, we can be competitive against anyone – she concluded.
