Our U15 team secured a two-goal victory away to Politehnica Iași this weekend. Head coach Fogarasi Zoltán shared his thoughts after the match.

The coach highlighted that his team had been eagerly awaiting their return to action after a two-week break, while also being aware of the difficulty of the challenge ahead.

– We were really looking forward to getting back on the pitch after two weeks off. A very tough task awaited us, as we faced Iași, a team that is dangerous at home, in the battle for playoff spots. This year, they had only lost once at home in official matches – he said.

FK arrived at the derby in excellent form, which was also evident on the pitch:

– We came into the match full of confidence, as the team had been unbeaten in the last 11–12 games. We started very bravely and aggressively, not allowing the opponents time or space to build their play.

Fogarasi emphasized the importance of high defending and aggressive pressing:

– We defended high, initiated many duels, and often forced the opponents into making rushed decisions. We recovered the ball frequently, which allowed us to spend a lot of time in their half. The opponent did not change their style, trying to get behind our defense with long balls, but this only worked occasionally.

According to the coach, the opening goal had a key psychological impact:

– We scored the opening goal at a very good moment, which unsettled the hosts. From that point on, we were able to dominate both defensively and offensively throughout the first half.

He added that although there were few clear chances, his team maintained control. However, the start of the second half brought a more difficult period:

– The home side started the second half with even more intensity. We were slightly unsettled, but this passed after a few minutes. It was good to see the team’s confidence. The hosts had more possession, but we still controlled the match overall. With our second goal late in the game, we definitively sealed the win, even though the referee added an unjustified seven minutes of stoppage time.

In conclusion, Fogarasi Zoltán praised his team’s organization and efficiency:

– Overall, we controlled the entire match, and thanks to our efficiency in front of goal and our nearly flawless, determined defending, we fully deserved to win this group derby. We have now built a more significant advantage over Iași. We have taken an important step towards our common goal, but there is still a lot of work ahead – the coach concluded.
