There was no doubt about the winner in the Elite League U15 clash between FK Csíkszereda and Petrolul Ploiești this weekend. The home side secured a confident 4–1 victory, and head coach Zoltán Fogarasi shared his thoughts after the match.
The coach explained that following last week’s less convincing performance, the team deliberately focused on applying much higher pressure on the opponent — something they managed to implement right from the start.
“After last week’s weaker performance, we prepared to put much more pressure on our opponent, and our weekly tactical objectives were built around this. It worked so well that we managed to take the lead in the 35th second. We stayed consistently in the opponent’s half, won many balls, and from those we either earned set pieces or created dangerous chances. By the end of the first half, the match was practically decided.
We scored at a very good rhythm, saw excellent individual performances, and as a team we played combinative football, made a lot of off-the-ball movements into free spaces, initiated many actions, occupied spaces well, and were precise. In many aspects, we surpassed what we showed last week, which is very pleasing.
In the second half, I tried to give opportunities to players who had played less so far. Our game might have been a bit more restrained then, but we still created chances, even if we didn’t score again — unlike our opponent. Nevertheless, there is nothing to reproach the team for. We played well, perhaps our best performance of the spring season. Our game was attractive and combinative, we built nice attacks and created many chances, so our victory was fully deserved and never in doubt.
I am especially happy to see improving individual form within the squad. Everyone is developing well, including those who had fewer opportunities — they all tried to prove themselves and gave everything on the pitch. We are holding our position in the standings, and now we have a one-week break in the league, which we will use to further develop the team physically and tactically, with additional emphasis on individual training. We are already looking forward to the match against Buzău in two weeks, where we want to continue our good run.”
