Our U16 team fought tremendously to secure victory in Saturday’s Cup match against Bacău FC. Head coach Bernát Burus reveals the technical aspects behind the two-goal win:
After the two most difficult matches of the season, this Cup game against Bacău followed — a match with significant stakes. We managed to gather a great deal of experience from the clashes with Farul and FCSB, both at staff level and among the players. I feel we managed to turn this experience to our advantage, as we made huge progress in our off-ball play and in our positive aggressiveness — something already visible in the match against FCSB.
This was considered a derby, as the outcome could have influenced the fight for first place in the group. In the first ten minutes, the visitors put us under heavy pressure, but we managed to get through that period confidently. Contrary to the run of play, we converted our first real chance and took the lead. From that point on, Bacău lost momentum, while we began to take control: we became more aggressive, won the duels, and kept our opponent under constant pressure.
The second half was marked by very mature, tactically disciplined play, in which we gave the opponent almost no chance to create anything. With the goal scored from the penalty spot, we decided the fate of the match once and for all.
The boys fought incredibly hard, played with huge heart, and truly deserved this victory. What fate unjustly took from them in the match against FCSB was now returned in a moment where the win was perhaps even more important. Huge congratulations to the boys — extraordinary resilience and determination define this team.
Congratulations from the staff as well — well done, boys!
